Fox River Projects

Recognizing the value of the Fox River and the Village's responsibility as a good steward of this beautiful natural resource, the Village of Waterford is exploring and developing design plans for areas along the river.

Many citizens and visitors enjoy the Fox River in a myriad of ways - from quiet reflection along its shores to fishing, birding, or enjoying the wildlife that make the River their home or stopping point to navigating the river in motor boats above the dam or canoeing and kayaking all along the river, people of all ages value this beautiful resource.

With completion of the Village and County canoe/kayak launches around the Waterford and Rochester dams, the most significant impediments to uninhibited travel will be eliminated. Paddlers will soon be able  to navigate the Fox River from the headwaters in Waukesha County on to Illinois' popular Fox River Chain o'Lakes system.Village is working with groups in Illinois to develop the Fox River Water Trail and seek national designation from the National Park Service.

Canoe/Kayak Launch Construction

Canoe/Kayak launches are located above and below the Waterford Dam in Huening and Village Hall Park  and above and below the Rochester Dam in Case Eagle Park. Thank you to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Stewardship fund and the Racine Community Foundation for their support through grant funding totaling over $120,000. The Village partnered with Racine County to complete the project provides safe portage around both dams.
